A Complete Review Of The Lord Of The Rings The Two Towers

July 27th, 2010 Shelia Beard No comments

If you are looking at the book The Lord of the Rings The Two Towers and are feeling a little overwhelmed by how thick it is, you are not alone. Many people who have read The Hobbit and The Fellowship of The Rings have found that some portions are hard to get through. However, as it links together the first and third books, it is important for you to read since it answers many questions and provides information you need to make the third book, The Return of the King, make sense.

The book is important but is often difficult for people to get through for a number of reasons. The plot tends to have patches of intense action which are interspersed through long periods of travel. Because of this, many people find that they tend to skip over the rich descriptions of the landscape through which the characters travel in order to concentrate on the action scenarios.

Because the movie tends to simply allow the terrain to speak for itself, much of the focus is suddenly on character development, dialogue and actual action. Instead of spending time reading about what the moss on a statue looked like or what the texture of a cloak felt like, we can see the characters passing the landmarks and wearing the clothing. Jackson’s team was made up of amazing make-up artists who were able to turn humans into fearsome orcs and Uruk-hai. Suddenly, you can see the way creatures such as Ents look and how they sound rather than trying to picture it in your head.

Many people miss the reference to the two towers. The first belongs to Saruman. He is a wizard who appears first in the Fellowship of the Ring. Although we are aware that he has sided with the enemy, the extent of his treachery becomes obvious as we see him creating fierce creatures known as Uruk-Hai in the caves below his tower. The second tower is that occupied by Sauron himself.

Finally, the story works well as a movie because it is easier to follow the travels of the different parts of the Fellowship. In the book, the companions split up at the end of the first movie. Boromir betrays the Fellowship by attempting to take the ring from Frodo by force. You understand why he does so after you meet the people of Gondor, including Boromir’s brother Faramir and the corrupt and deranged Steward who has cracked under the pressure of living next to Mordor.

You also begin to learn more about some of the motivations which affect the characters. Boromir, who is killed in the first movie, is from Gondor, a land on the border of Mordor and under constant siege from the forces of darkness. The movie delves into the motivations of the people of Gondor. We are introduced to Faramir, younger brother of Boromir who is desperate to prove himself to his father who serves as Steward of that country.

Although there were some criticisms surrounding the way Peter Jackson treated the storyline, for the most part this movie has been praised. There are so many memorable moments (such as the unforgettable Battle of Helm’s Deep) that you are set up to go into the third part of the story with a much better understanding of Middle Earth as a whole.

Both the movie and the book have an important role to play in the overall trilogy. Peter Jackson’s version keeps the viewer riveted and the visual scenes of travelling keep the interest level up more than the book tends to do.

One example is global warming films by Leonardo DiCaprio that can be viewed on his website. Movie Online To Download For your security and the safety of your machine, you should stay away from these. Capture The Moment

July 25th, 2010 Stephen Drury No comments

Pro photographers have known for years the spellbinding capability to just capture a minute when they press the shutter at the right millisecond. Occasionally such moments can be planned, and often they can’t. Occasionally they are just there, and you have got to snap it without thought for composition or lighting or any of the other elements we all know are vital for quality photography.

As an example, you can plan for a picture full of the energy of the wind when someone or a vehicle crosses the line of sight.

Or when you know something provoking is ready to occur, like the appearance of a baby, having a camera prepared for that first moment of life could lead to a dazzling picture. Such life moments can be caught if you’re prepared with your ability and talent and equipment.

That moment when just the right elements come together for surprising composition, is usually nothing that you may have planned or set up. Recently my partner and I escaped and spent a weekend in the mountains where, one evening at dinner, we were seated on the porch of the dining room. Just as our salads were served, the sun moved from behind clouds and the brilliant metal roofs of mountain houses were illuminated across the meadow. Bright red and green and blue and gray roof colors flooded our senses as if a bucket-full of marbles had been tossed against the green and brown mountainside.

The sight was so full of vitality and potential that we could hardly talk with the vibrancy of it all.

That moment was not planned. It just happened. Occasionally such experiences can be imagined before the circumstance. As an example, you know a crop moon will be an impressive sight, and you can make arrangements for shooting it by being in the right spot at the right time. The unpredictable can be made easily manageable with a little forethought.

You can envisage what might be, before it really occurs. Demonstrating patience may open doors for a variety of abnormally composed pictures, especially if you need to attend on just the right natural light, or shade, or form or energy.

An Overview Of 12 Angry Men

July 23rd, 2010 Theodore William No comments

12 Angry Men was a very popular film in the late 1950s starring Henry Fonda. A jury must decide on a murder case that holds a first degree murder conviction. A 19 year old Puerto Rican but from the inner city is on trial for the murder of his father. His father was stabbed to death with a pocket knife. The jury is instructed that a guilty verdict will lead to a mandatory death sentence and that their vote must be unanimous.

All of the jurors are white males the majority being middle aged. Their lives are far removed from that of the defendant. After spending six days on the trial they must know come to a decision that decision whether the defendant lives or dies. They refer to one another according to their jury numbers. These nameless men become symbols of the varying views and biases within our society.

As the story unfolds, we see the jurors are very agitated. It is an uncomfortable situation. They are all worn by the six day trial and all but one of them is ready to give a guilty verdict. It is the height of the summer in New York city, where summers are particularly hot and humid. They sit in a small room without much air and the majority is ready to decide and move on with their lives.

The jurors bring their own personal experiences and biases to the table which make coming to a unanimous decision very difficult. To most, the evidence appears to be overwhelming. But a closer inspection of the evidence gets way to reasonable doubt.

This thought provoking story has the audience examine the deep set prejudices based on fear and ignorance we hold against one another as a society. These men, all white, must decide the fate of a poor, uneducated Puerto Rican teenage boy. Many cannot relate to his situation, some display total indifference to his fate. Not only is this defendant on trial but so is the American Justice system as the story moves on to explore the weaknesses judicial in the system.

When you look deeper into the plot, we come to realize this story is a commentary on the American judicial system. Through these jurors, we learn to examine how racial and cultural differences separate us on such a critical level that it can affect a life or death situation. The jurors must decide whether this Puerto Rican teenager from the slums lives or dies. But there particular biases may in fact lead to a miscarriage of justice.

The first vote among the jurors does not have a favorable result for the defendant. Eleven vote guilty. But juror number 8 stands his ground that the evidence is not strong enough to lead to a guilty verdict. And slowly he convinces the others to change their vote.

12 Angry Men examines the American Justice system through the narrow views of jurors that are a cross section of our society. But the persistence of one man who stood up for a fair and just system ultimately saved a life. This story is a thought provoking account of the racial and legal injustices faced by those marginalized by a system that is not always fair and just.

American Beauty Is A Top Notch Film

July 12th, 2010 Valerie Bryant No comments

One of my favorite films in recent years was American Beauty. This movie was highly acclaimed, winning five Academy Awards. These included best picture and Kevin Spacey winning Best Actor.

American Beauty is a story about mid-life crisis and people coming to terms with who they are. It is centered on a married couple with a teenage daughter. We follow the struggles they all go through in coming to grips with the various issues each has in their lives.

Lester is the father of a rebellious daughter and a bitchy and bossy wife. He hates his boring life and his job is becoming uninspiring as well. He is entering into a classic midlife crisis.

His wife Carolyn is all about the money. She acts like a bitch, and is always disapproving of both Lester and their daughter Jane. She is also having an affair with a married man who is a real estate agent like she is also.

Jane, their daughter, is rebelling from the fighting couple and trying to “find herself”. Her best friend is a high school hottie who everyone is after, but Jane feels unsure of herself. Even her dad has the hots for her best friend.

Lester finally cracks and quits his job. He makes a good severance deal for himself and to keep busy takes a job at the local fast food establishment. He starts smoking pot and getting back into physical shape. He has a thing for Jane’s friend Angela, but at the moment of truth decides not to pursue her.

Jane finds a boyfriend in the new kid next door, Ricky. Ricky is a strange kid with a tough family life himself. His father is a closet homosexual with a strict military background. This has left his mother as a dominated shell of a woman. Ricky sells pot, and becomes Lester’s supplier and friend.

This sets the stage for a powerful ending, which I won’t spoil for anyone who hasn’t seen the film. This is a brilliant film and Kevin Spacey is at his ultimate best. American Beauty is a must see movie.

There are now thousands of hip songs available online today that will probably never make it to the radio stations. Movie – all these can affect your singing in a negative way! Or, if you dont see your favorite hip hop ringtone, make sure to ask, as they often will still be able to get it for you.
